Skurski sidelined by fractured arm
Pelicans FC first teamer Mike Skurski faces a spell on the sidelines after fracturing his right forearm during last Sunday’s 3-2 victory over Sting Select.
The £9m signing suffered the injury in a collision with a Sting Select player, and Pelicans FC boss Cantonis said: "Mike is in a lot of pain." It is not yet known how many games the 31-year-old Skurski will miss. But the Polish international will definitely sit out this week’s game against Stars FC this Sunday. Skurski initially tried to continue at Weber Field but was eventually replaced by David Weber (no relation to the field) and taken to the hospital. Initial X-rays didn’t reveal a fracture, but follow up examination revealed a fracture of the lower forearm.
He has now returned to South Carolina (or Northeast Georgia as some call it) with the rest of the Skurski clan, where his injury will be monitored in the coming days. The former St. Pius striker, who joined Pelicans FC in 2000, missed long spells of last season with a hip injury while a knee problem restricted him during the summer. Lenoir Rhyne all time leading goal scorer Cory Morgan will provide cover during his latest absence.
